Farrow Risk Management was approached by a large security company to provide a specialist seminar in physical restraint techniques. Although the staff attending had all attended formal instruction in physical intervention the company felt that current training requirement fell short of what is needed to deal with particularly violent individuals effectively. The seminar addressed a range of issues regarding violent person restrain including current legislation regarding use of force, case studies relating to violent person restraint and the under lying medical considerations of deploying certain restraint techniques. Delegates worked in groups to practice specialist techniques based upon current law enforcement best practice. The feedback was very positive and by the end of the seminar delegates all stated they benefitted from the input as it provided clarity with regards use of force legislation and the application of techniques that fell outside of current security industry training.
